Student safety is our #1 priority.  Our main goal is to provide the safest and most efficient service we can provide for your children.  We are dedicated to making your life easier.  You can put your mind at ease knowing your child will be transported in the safest possible manner.  To better serve you and meet our goal in providing the best and safest transportation for your child we have listed our policies and procedures.

POLICIES & PROCEDURES

WAITING TO BOARD THE BUS

  • Always walk on the sidewalk to the bus stop, never run.
  • Be outside your bus stop about 10 minutes before the bus is scheduled to arrive.

GETTING ON AND OFF THE BUS

  • Do not run along the bus when the bus is moving.  Wait until the bus stops; then walk to the door and board the bus in an orderly manner.
  • Remember that students living on the opposite side of the road from a bus stop should wait on their side of the road until the bus arrives.  Watch for the red flashing lights and stop arm to be extended.  Cross only when all traffic has stopped.  Look left and right and left again before crossing.
  • Always cross the street in front of the bus.  Never go behind the bus.  If you drop something near the bus, tell the bus driver before you attempt to pick it up, so they will know where you are.
  • Respect the :Danger Zone" which surrounds all sides of the bus.  The "Danger Zone" is ten feet wide on all sides of he bus.  Always remain 10 steps away from the bus to be out of the "Danger Zone" and where the driver can see you.
  • When entering the bus, go directly to a seat.  Remain seated and face forward during the entire ride.
  • Hold the handrail while going up and down the bus stairs.

RIDING THE BUS

  • Always speak quietly on the bus so the driver will not be distracted.
  • Never throw things on the bus or out the windows.  Keep the aisles clear at all times.  Feet should be directly in front of you on the floor and book bags should be kept on your lap.  Large instruments or sports equipment should not block the aisle or emergency exits.
  • Never play with the emergency exits.  Large instruments or sports equipment should not block the aisle or emergency exits.  If there is an emergency , listen to the driver and follow instructions.
  • Hands should be kept to yourself at all times while riding on the bus.  Fighting and picking on others creates a dangerous bus ride.
  • Keep the bus clean.  Do not throw wastepaper on the floor.
  • Remember that smoking, eating, and drinking are not permitted on the school bus.
  • Know that the use of profanity and obscene signs on the school bus are prohibited.

INCLEMENT WEATHER

  • Living in South Florida we are sometimes faced with inclement weather or congested traffic. Both of these situations may affect our schedules.  We appreciate your patience and understanding when bus schedules may be temporarily modified.

As parents, you are an important part of the total safety awareness for students who travel to and from school by bus.  Students can benefit from learning to become safe pedestrians and passengers by following these School Bus Safety Procedures and Policies.
